Residential Maintenance Services - The Process
Relms Landscaping's Staff of professionally trained maintenance experts have developed a proactive approach to keeping landscapes beautiful and healthy all year long, enabling us to provide the highest quality professional landscape maintenance available in the area. From the initial phone call, through development of a customized maintenance program, to quality assurance follow up visits, our exceptionally skilled staff will work with you to create the perfect All Season Maintenance Program for your property and your lifestyle.
- Site Consultation
The initial phone call to Relms Landscaping begins the process of determining your landscape maintenance needs. Once your general maintenance needs are established, we'll schedule an appointment for a property walk through with one of our maintenance experts. During this visit to your site, our staff will discuss your landscape maintenance preferences and requirements, review any problem areas on your property, and record the specific property and plant data required to customize the perfect maintenance program for you.
- Proposal
Once the walk-through has been executed, our staff will analyze your property data, plantscape, and personal landscape requirements to determine which combination of regular and seasonal services will both address your preferences and keep your property in peak condition all year long. Your maintenance proposal will outline and describe these services, including quantity and price for each type of maintenance visit, and will offer you a variety of convenient payment methods. Our staff will then set up an appointment to review your maintenance program proposal with you, or if preferred, will happily send you your proposal via US Mail or email. Relms Landscaping office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Our staff is available to answer any questions or address any concerns you may have regarding your proposal.
- Execution
Once you've signed and returned a copy of your maintenance program contract to Relms, our staff will schedule your year-long services, working closely with you to meet any of your specific scheduling needs, both in advance and as they arise. Our maintenance crews are held to the highest standards of courtesy and professionalism, and are trained to execute their maintenance services with the least inconvenience to you, leaving your property pristine and clean, every visit. Our Area Supervisor will also personally inspect your property during routine quality assurance visits to ensure that your services have been executed to our high standards.
- Review
We want to be sure that our services are executed to your satisfaction. If, at any time, you require a change in your maintenance program, or find any service problematic, a quick call to Relms will put our maintenance experts on the problem. We'll work with you to meet any challenge your property or schedule presents. We also send out customer satisfaction survey postcards at key points throughout the year. These surveys provide a quick, easy way to let us know how we're doing, to note any changes necessary to your service schedule, or to note a special job well done.
- Renewal
Maintenance contracts run through the end of October each year. We are committed
to ensure that your renewed maintenance contract will continue to completely meet your needs and our standards through extensive data analysis, checking all services for maximum efficiency and fair pricing. A new maintenance proposal, tailored to meet your property's current requirements, will be sent to you weeks before the expiration date, allowing you time to call us with any questions or adjustments. The All Season Maintenance Program
Spring Clean Up
Designed to address winter wear and tear and rejuvenate your landscape for the growing season. Offered in late winter. During the Spring Clean Up, we'll clean, weed and mulch your planting beds, detail any perennials needing attention, and prune as seasonally recommended to freshen your landscape and prepare for greener days to come.
Detail Visits
General maintenance and upkeep visits help to keep your property well groomed throughout the growing season. Our regular Detail visits, scheduled as needed between other services, allow us to prune, weed and care for your entire landscape as the need arises, keeping your yard looking its best throughout the year.
Fall Clean Up
Our Fall Clean Up service puts your garden to bed for the year and prepares all features of your landscape for winter. Service begins in October, the perfect time to clear your landscape of overgrowth, clean out all existing beds, prune all shrubs, and cutback your perennials as needed for the change of seasons. A light dusting of mulch on all planting beds completes the service.
Mowing/Edging
Regular Mowing services round out the All Season Maintenance Program, and are scheduled to coincide with the beginning of turf growing season. Our mowing and trimming teams will treat your lawn with care and leave your property clean and pristine every time. This service can be paired with Leaf Management Services in the Fall to keep you lawn tidy and leaf-free.
Leaf Removal Services
Total Leaf Removal from planting beds to lawn area. Offered in November and December on a time and material basis as a counterpart to Leaf Management services executed during our mowing visits.
Turf Services
- Aeration
Best performed in the fall, this service gives new vigor to tired turf. During Aeration, we mechanically break through your turf's thatch layer and remove a 2-3 inch core, allowing air, water and nutrients to flow freely in to the root system of the plants.
- Broadcast Overseeding
Performed in conjunction with the Aeration service, this application includes 3-4 lbs of seed per one thousand square feet of turf area. This allows us to introduce new seed varieties into your lawn, increasing your turf's resistance to environmental stresses.
Tree & Shrub Service
- Tree & Shrub Pruning
Our tree and shrub experts can ensure your plants' health and increase your bloom quotient wit a few well-timed pruning services. Pruning is a key part of maximizing your landscape's beauty and maintaining its ideal size, and is scheduled as horticulturally recommended for each tree and shrub species. Tree pruning is best done in winter, during your tree's dormant months. Flowering shrubs are best pruned after blooming periods.
- Tree & Shrub Fertilization
We offer deep-root feeding for trees, and shrub fertilization services, both specifically designed to optimize the nutrient availability and health of your plantscape.
- Horticulture Oil, Insecticide & Fungicide Application
Your plants may be hosting pests not readily available to the untrained eye. Our horticultural experts will examine your plants to determine the best treatment plan for your specimens, whether it be an application of insecticidal oil to treat dormant pests, or one of a complete range of insecticide or fungicide treatments to root our active pests and fungi.
Wetlands Planting
Wetlands of the Chesapeake Bay area perform many valuable functions in our unique ecosystem. They act as filters for industrial, farm and residential run-off, they provide habitat for aquatic life and waterfowl, and they reduce erosion. Relms Landscaping can provide you with a turnkey wetland program tailored to your particular property. Whether installing new wetlands, enhancing existing areas or repairing damaged areas we can address the needs of any property under tidal influence. We can act as your wetlands contractor, in addition to serving as your Environmental Consultant, interfacing with the various governmental agencies through all permitting phases and paperwork. Whether it is the installation of aquatic plants that will aid in the removal of pollutants, or the re-creation of impacted native wetlands, Relms Landscaping has the personnel, equipment and experience to make the creation of these systems a reality while adding beauty and color to these sensitive areas. Careful attention to plant species and site design results in attractive natural habitats and enhanced natural biodiversity while reducing runoff and subsequent surface water erosion.
Erosion Control/Slope Stabilization
The Challenge in Erosion Control or Slope Stabilization is to protect/retain the topsoil and landscape areas at risk. Keeping the topsoil in place and containing sediment can be accomplished through a number of methods including plantings, structural solutions, terracing, rock protection and seeding.
Relms Landscaping can address the critical areas with a blend of human ingenuity and proven techniques that produce results that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are effective.
All plans are customized and all solutions unique since there is no one way to stabilize areas subject to erosion. Our team will assist you throughout the process from evaluation to planning, to permitting and installation of required work.
Snow Services
We offer snow removal on a contractual basis to our clients. This service ranges from plowing and shoveling to ice melt application. Billings for snow removal is done on a time and material basis as part of our comprehensive All Season Maintenance Program.
